Kurt's Stats...

Today at his appt.....
Kurt weighs 16 lbs, 7 oz. He is 25 inches long and his head circumference is 16 3/4 inches around...
He got 3 shots today and I wanted to SHOOT the dang nurse. My experience w/my boys getting their shots on their thighs have always been, I hold them & their arms. The nurse or physician gets a grip on the baby's thigh, squeezes it and pokes the needle in the thigh area that she's holding and administers the vaccine. Isn't that how a shot is administered in the leg??
Well...the nurse was bitchy...There was something evil about her when she came to weigh Kurt and do all the vitals....she was not friendly either. Kurt even cried when she looked at him. Kurt NEVER cries when he sees strangers! He goes to everyone and smile or laughs at everyone. This nurse was a different story. Kurt did not like her. After the doctor saw Kurt, the nurse came back to administer the vaccines. She didn't get his leg and squeeze the thigh area where she was going to poke him. She just stabbed Kurt's leg w/the needle and pushed the plunger down to administer the vaccine. Omg...Kurt didn't cry like that at the last appt and these shots were the same as todays! He cried friggen LOUDLY and was so red in the face!! She poked him again by just stabbing him in the leg w/the next shot and then the 3rd one again the same way.
Can anyone tell me if she was doing it right?? I mean it just didn't seem right the way she did it! Blood squirted out of his leg today too. Usually when my kids have gotten poked, there is blood but not spewing out or dripping!! Tell me if I'm over reacting to her? I just got a 'bad' feeling from her....Also Kurt cried for another good 10 minutes afterwards. Last time he just cried for a minute or two.
Other than that, Kurt was a lil cranky today but he still ate. Tonight we gave him 2 tbsp of rice cereal w/formula and he chowed it down! We had a swarm of bees in my rosebush this morning and they left eventually. The bee man came to remove them and they were gone by the time he arrived. We were out when he called and told me there weren't any bees. Good thing they moved on hopefully they won't come back. I have to make sure i cut down the rose bush this weekend b/c there are remnants of white goop from the bees and some honeycomb patterns that the bees left behind. After Kurt's appt, I went to physical therapy for my sciatica (yes it's still bugging me) then the spa for a facial. It's spa week and it ends this sunday. I got a massage yesterday and finished it off w/a facial today. Thank God Dave was home today (9/80 work schedule) and he drove us around and dropped me off while he watched Kurt and they bonded at the bookstore, toys store & while they window shopped.

The weekend will continue to be busy....gotta take Brad to Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena. There are cooking classes for incoming students to get a glance of what Le Cordon Bleu has to offer. Brad plans to start classes in August and hopes to become a chef someday. Hopefully his financial aid packet looks attractive enough for him to afford to go there. After Le Cordon Bleu, it's kyle's baseball game at noon in Redondo. Bryce has baseball practice at 3:30 at Hickory Park in Torrance. If we're not too beat, we'll go and meet up w/my friend Julia at the Toyota sports complex (formerly health south) and watch her son, Cody play ice hockey & to deliver her the Tupperware she ordered.
Whew...what a weekend already and Friday hasn't ended yet....

I don't know anything about shots for children, but that nurse sounds like a terror! Poor little Kurt!
