Rudeness is NOT tolerated!

Brad(my 16 yr old) and I were grocery shopping yesterday and we had a cart full. It was definitely not the kind of full that you see when you're about to get in line and you avoid b/c the person ahead has a load full of groceries from top to bottom to underneath the basket w/packs of sodas/bottled water. That was definitely NOT us. There were about 3 checkstands open with more than 3 people in line (whatever happened to 3's a Crowd?) and all the self-checkouts were open.

While Brad went to wait in line, I went to check out the ice cream aisle. I could see there were a bunch of Dreyers (my fave) ice cream w/new flavors so I had to go check it out and add to my freezer a new flavor to try. I grab a mango ice cream (talk about being asian huh?) and proceed to walk towards Brad. As I am approaching, I see this little old filipino lady w/a rotisserie chicken. In high school I had a lot of filipino boyfriends & filipino friends. I got to learn a lot about being pinay, learned the culture, got to know bf's lolas (grandma), titas (aunties), kuyas (brothers)and ahtays (sisters). I even acted filipina sometimes. Most of all, I learned their typical body gestures. So being filipina, Lola puckers her lips to point at her rotisserie chicken, acknowledges Brad, waves the chicken at him and steps right in front of our cart. Brad is just perplexed as to what just happened and just didn't know what to make of it! Meanwhile I approach Brad and had to asked him if I actually just saw what Lola did!? He said yes and my instant reaction was shock and disbelief. As I'm thinking how rude that was and thought how Lola could've just used the self check out, I figure, ok, I'll let Lola go and not make a fuss about it. Maybe the self checkout is not cut out for old skoolers to use. I let it go and let her stay in front of us. However, I am annoyed that Brad didn't have the guts to tell the lady the line is behind us! So, the line starts to move forward and I'm just about to reach into my cart when Lola #2 walks right next to Lola #1. Lola #2 has no relation to Lola #1 but I'm sure she saw lola #1 get in front of us. She had in her basket, 2 bags of bananas and a few other things in and she just nonchalantly takes it upon herself to get in front of us.

I was just really shocked and this time I was not about to let someone else take advantage of us. Everyone was in line and all three checkstands were open and all had people waiting. If we had to wait at this point, lolo and lola #2 could wait too or opt to use self check out. So what did I do? I told Lola #2 that the line is right behind us and that she needs to get in line. With a look of disbelief, she went behind us, lolo gets out of line and stands at the end of the checkout counter waiting for his wife, staring me down and giving me the dirtiest look ever. I complained and tell the cashier what happened and she blurts out, loudly at the lady and down her line: "Everyone in line are waiting for their turn, therefore, you must get in line and wait your turn too!"

Thank you to the Cashier b/c I tell you, I cannot stand rudeness...hmph!

***please accept my apology if I offended any of my filipino friends/families....I was not trying to point fingers at anyone being filipino, but replaying exactly what happened, who it involved and how I know and have learned a lot of filipino gestures, words & culture...*** So sorry!
