I knew my secretaries have something planned for me as our Director Secretary scheduled a meeting that doesn't need to take place until mid November but decided to schedule it for next week, 10/10/08. I tried getting out of it too but to no avail, she said no rescheduling. I have access to my boss' calendar and everyday, when I pull up my Outlook calendar, his is defaulted to open up w/mine. I do that so I can see what's on his schedule for the day and if I need to run errands I can do so when he's in a meeting and he would not "miss" or "know" that I was gone.
Well, since I also had a birthday luncheon to attend to on 10/10/08, I went to decline that meeting since I have to attend this "secretary" meeting. Lo and Behold on my boss' calendar, it says: "Sssssh Surprise Baby Shower for Jen." Um, Ladies? Not a surprise anymore but I'll go right along w/it and be surprised. I told 3 friends of mine (one that is invited) and Dave. It was no surprise to Dave that I would find out b/c he knows you can't try and pull a surprise on me, especially if it's a party. I always somehow figure it out or know something's up. It's not b/c I snoop or anything, I just get those "feelings" and can sense these things! So the plan is to act surprised on 10/10/08.
Today, however I am walking over to a meeting. It's another secretaries meeting and as I'm walking over, one of the dingy-est secretaries I work with comes up to me and says hello and ask how things are going.
Ms Airhead: Hi Jennifer!!
Me: Hi ____! Long time no see!
Ms Airhead: How are things? You look good, pregnancy must be treating you well! Your shower is next week right?
Me: (wanting to really smack her and whack her one) Um...Yes It is next Friday and it's a SURPRISE.
Ms Airhead: (gestures the "Doh"- look and covers her mouth real quick for the snafu) Oh yeah it's a surprise! You know?
Me: I do now.
We parted our ways...I didn't want to let her know anymore than what I already knew....
