Not through the eyes and choices of us adult but through Bryce...
We got home early tonight so that Dave & I could vote and b/c the boys and Dave have tickets to Kings vs Ducks hockey game tonight. Brad had dinner done in a snap and ready to go. Bryce has never been to a polling place so he asked to go with us. He saw the lines for one precinct and then a 2nd line for our precinct. He stood next to me and watched me punch the little circles in w/the pen and thought that was pretty neat. He thought the rest of the voting process was boring and nothing to it. To him it was, "that's it?" Yup..that's it, kiddo.
There was about another 45min to kill before going to the game.
While I was opening mail and Dave was putzing around, Bryce said he had something to show us. He went to his backpack and pulled out a coloring page of Obama on one side and McCain on the other side. We noticed Obama was colored in and McCain was not.
We asked, "How come you colored Obama but not McCain?" (we thought he was favoring or picking a president of his choice by choosing to color the one he'd want as our next president)
Bryce (so matter of fact) says: "McCain is white, there's nothing to color b/c his face is white and his hair is white and he hardly has any hair to color anyways. How am I supposed to color him if the paper is white and if used a white crayon, you can't see the colors? I colored Obama because he has brown color skin, and I had a brown crayon and was able to color his face and used black crayon to color his hair."
He just wanted to color and it had nothing to do with choosing our next President... Wouldn't it be nice to be a kid again? Oh to be so young and innocent again!
